VARIOS

Comparación acústica de las vocales en las lenguas española y árabe.

Saad Mohamed Saad

ABSTRACT

Our aim in this paper is an acoustic analysis of vowels in Spanish and Arabic. This time, the chosen variants are the standard peninsular, on the one hand, and the dialect of Cairo, on the other. The ultimate goal we seek here is to identify any differences between the vowels of these two languages, as well as their impact on the teaching process of Spanish to Egyptian students. So, we intend to calculate in this study, the mean values for the first two formants of the equivalent vowels, analyze the influence that the context can have in their timbre and draw, at the same time, their sound fields, which we’ll reflect on the formant letter. Also, we’ll study here the relative duration of the vowels in both languages. This study is based on spectrographic analysis of 1300 recordings of words containing the vowels of both languages in different contexts: in open and closed syllables, stressed position and in unstressed position and in the vicinity of the different types of sounds.
