Lo árabe y oriental en la vida y obra de Kandinsky

Mª Arantzazu Carcedo González

ABSTRACT

This article analyses the impact of the Arabian culture in Kandinsky’s life (1866-1944) and work, mainly in his beginnings as an artist, which coincides with his trip to Tunisia from 1904 to 1905, and until 1914, when he moved to Russia due to war and when his work becomes fully abstract, with some exceptions. It is clear that the Arabian culture and the Oriental one come together in his work and that all this intertwines with his Russian roots and culture, expressed in artistic images. The influences of the Oriental and the Arabian cultures on his person and his art are varied, due to his travelling, the exhibitions he visits or the atmosphere of his environment. The painter assimilates all these aspects, combining them with his sensitivity and expressing them in various ways in his work.
